"If you want to make people happy for the rest of your life - sell ice cream, do not be a leader."
I recently heard these words and they really resonated with me. I struggle with the need to be perfect, which is not possible for any human. As I have grown, I have realized that there is a lot of truth to this statement. Being a leader is hard. From afar, it looks easy to be in charge. However, being the "chief" is generally it is the furthest thing from "easy".
Whether you are trying to lead a company, a group, or just your horse - it is hard to be in the lead. If you are doubting yourself, wondering if you are in the right spot, making the right calls, or saying the right things. Remember these words - you won't ALWAYS make EVERYONE happy. You can lead a horse to water but, you can't make them drink - hence the old saying. You can have the best of intentions, but your horse might still leave the trough thirsty despite being led there.
If you never want to make anyone unhappy - you better go buy an ice cream truck...
You better not own a horse, follow your dreams, or take chances.
Or you can accept the good days with the bad days. You can most importantly strive to make God happy. And always always keep getting back in the saddle.
